    PLN Markets Electricity installation to the Countrysides


    BANDUNG – Until today, PLN officers still Market electricity installation to the remote regions.

    According to PLN’s West Java’s Distributor’s official release, in around a million of costumers that are applying electricity installment during 2015, 95% of them delivered their application through 123 Contact Centre and www.pln.co.id website. It makes only 5% of PLN’s costumer who applied their application manually through service counters, rural electricity programme including mobile marketing programme. 

    "In Garut, for example, door-to-door electricity marketing is still regularly performed by PLN officers once a week as an anticipation act for people who do not have the access to phone or internet to apply for a new electricity installation" said Suargina, the public relation officer of West Java’s distribution office. 

    As a result, throughout 2015, there are 1,365 customers who sign up through mobile marketing. 571 customers in Leles, 438 in Garut City, 150 in Cibatu, and 206 in Cikajang. "Not only markets a new electricity installation or power adjustments, the team educates the public about electricity safety, tips to save electricity, a fraud alert on behalf of the PLN, as well as introducing Call Center 123 as an information center and as a way to do a transaction in PLN" He explained.
    In addition to door-to-door strategy, the marketing also done by installing a tent near the centre of a crowd of a village or invited residents and village officials to the village halls. As what has been implemented in the area of Tasikmalaya, Majalaya, Cimahi, Cianjur and Karawang.
    By the end of 2015, West Java’s electrification ratio is still around 94%. There are still some areas such as Tasikmalaya, Garut, Cianjur, Sukabumi, etc. which has not been exposed by electricity. It is expected that at the end of 2018, West Java’s electrification ratio can reach 100%. (Pun).
