Keeping Peace at Christmas Eve 2019

BANDUNG CITY - Governor of West Java (West Java) Ridwan Kamil along with the Regional Leaders Communication Forum (Forkopimda) of West Java Province monitored the ongoing Christmas Eve Mass of 2019 on December 24 in three churches in the City of Bandung and Cimahi City.

A number of Forkopimda elements who attended included Pangdam III / Siliwangi Maj. Gen. Nugroho Budi Wiryanto, West Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudy Sufahriadi, Chairperson of West Java DPRD Taufik Hidayat, Bandung Police Chief Comr. Irman Sugema, and Bandung Mayor Oded Danial and Cimahi Mayor Ajay Priatna .

The church visited by the governor and entourage of Forkopimda Jabar started from the Church of St. Peter's Cathedral on Jl. Merdeka Kota Bandung, Stairway from Heaven Church on Jl. Mekar Laksana, City of Bandung, until the Church of St. Ignatius on Jl. Baros City of Cimahi.

Emil - greeting Ridwan Kamil - said, a visit with Forkopimda West Java to a number of churches is a form of monitoring as well as a friendship to ensure religious activities run smoothly.

"We were intentionally present in full, making sure everything went smoothly," Emil said on Tuesday (12/24/19) night WIB.

"We are here to share our joy, we want to guarantee a sense of security for Christians (in) carrying out Christmas worship with pleasure and solemnity so that worship runs smoothly," he added.

"On behalf of West Java Forkopimda, we wish you a Merry Christmas, happy happiness, we maintain the favor of peace. Peace is an expensive word that must be maintained, it is the spirit that we must see at the Mass celebration this time," Emil said.

With togetherness, Emil hopes that the Indonesian people will always be at peace and make progress. It was also engraved in the Pancasila, namely the first principle of 'Godhead and One' and the third principle of 'Indonesian Unity'.

"That is because our first precept is Pancasila, a firm belief in the Almighty God, which guarantees that every Indonesian citizen has a comfortable feeling of worship in accordance with their respective beliefs," Emil said.

"Then met the third precepts namely the Indonesian Unity. We all support, providing a sense of security for immeasurable happiness, like a body aching all sick," he concluded.

The Bandung Bishop Mgr. Antonius Subianto Bunjamin, OSC who welcomed the governor along with the Forkopimda Jabar entourage in the Church of St. Peter's Cathedral in Bandung, appreciated this visit on Christmas Eve this time.

"This visit proves that Christmas brings peace to all," Antonius said.

"We all live in harmony, we tolerate, tolerate. We are also determined not to celebrate Christmas excessively because solidarity is more important. Thank you Mr. Governor, Forkopimda, religious leaders and the people of West Java," he said.
