    Counterfeit Money Circulation in Ciayumajakuning Rises


    INDRAMAYU-Bank Indonesia (BI) of Cirebon representative noted the circulation of counterfeit money in Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka and Kuningan (Ciayumajakuning) increased by 100 percent in in 2015 compared to 2014.


    Head of BI Office Region 3 Cirebon, Abdul Majid said the increase of counterfeit money happens because the growing of public awareness in understanding the existence of counterfeit money.


    “In 2015 then we find 14 thousand pieces of counterfeit money, with the most numerous pieces of 100,000 and 50,000," said Abdul told www.Jabarprov.go.id, in the socialisation of Non-Cash Payments and Financial Services Digital Movement, at SMAN 1 Sindang, Indramayu regency, on Thursday (04/21).


    According to Abdul, the public's understanding has increased after BI intensively conduct the movement of "Cikur Education" program in educating the community to the characteristics of the money authenticity.


    "With this Cikur Education, public will understand by knowing the money they hold is false or not, then report it to the BI," he said.


    Abdul said it will extend this Cikur Education program throughout the population residing in the territory of Ciayumajakuning, ranging from school children to adults who are in the centres of economic activity.
