West Java Provincial Government Holds Anti-radicalism Workshop for Students

TASIKMALAYA CITY- The Regional Government (Pemda) of West Java Province through the Regional Education Office (Cadisdik) Branch of Region XII and XIII West Java Province held an anti-radicalism workshop at the Hotel Santika, Tasikmalaya City, Thursday (12/5/19).

The workshop, which was attended by 1,000 participants, consisting of high school / vocational / high school students, school principals, school supervisors and parents' representatives, was aimed at preventing the entry of radicalism into educational units or schools in West Java.

West Java Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum said agreement and a shared understanding of Indonesia needed to be built in order to shield the entry of radicalism while strengthening the unity of the nation's children.

"Therefore, we must first make an agreement that we do not want pitted sheep. We take an agreement so we don't fight with each other, "Uu said.

"I entrust to the younger siblings who are present today and also to the school principals, first unite understanding of Indonesia, first unite understanding of West Java so that they do not want to be pitted against sheep," he added.

Uu also invited the participants to look back at the history of Indonesia that was born through agreement and national deliberations. "What was agreed? That is the foundation of the Pancasila state, "he said. "So, don't change Pancasila, because this is the result of a joint agreement," he added.

According to Uu, all elements of the nation must commit to safeguarding the four pillars of the Indonesian state, namely Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, Unity in Diversity, and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). He also stressed the workshop participants to focus on discussing the progress of the nation.

"If we are still talking about the basis of the state, if we are still talking about other things that are not for the progress of the country, then that is behind," he said.

"Therefore, I entrust my younger siblings not to easily join groups that provide insights that we don't normally accept. There are invitations we don't usually know. Stop, get out of the group, "Uu said ending.
