According to Emil - as Ridwan Kamil is called, PT Pertamia (Persero) will integrate the refinery and build a factory that produces a number of derivative petrochemical products in Indramayu Regency.
"Pertamina, with its professionalism, managed to get investment from Taiwanese companies, and Abu Dhabi to invest in Indramayu. This investment, for 4-5 years of construction, will employ 30-35 thousand, majority local residents, to work there," Emil said. .
Emil said, the task of the West Java Provincial Government in the investment was to secure the spatial layout and designate locations. Because the land used is more than 200 hectares, he said, the party will encourage it to become a Special Economic Zone (KEK).
"The project has an oil refinery, there is a petrochemical factory and its derivatives, which eventually become industrial objects, such as plastics and other objects," he said.
"The Provincial Government's task is to secure the spatial layout, and show the location of the area requested by Pertamina. And we will push to upgrade to KEK (Special Economic Zone) because the land is above 200 hectares," he added.
Emil said the project, which will begin in early 2020, is an example of the synergy between the Provincial Government and the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). Moreover, President Joko Widodo has given directions to regional heads to facilitate and accelerate investment.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati said, his party needed the support of the West Java Provincial Government in determining the location. Later, he said, the Rp 100 trillion project would absorb approximately 30-35 thousand workers in two stages.
"So the workforce needs for the construction phase and the operation phase. "The construction began in 2020 and operations in 2026," he said.
