BANDUNG - As many as 35 villages in 9 districts in West Java have become creative villages that utilize bamboo plants. The target must be 100 creative villages.
The person in charge of the armor community Oki Hikmawan said that he had provided training to residents in 35 villages so as to be able to improve the economy and cultural arts related to bamboo. Besides that, training in developing bamboo plants was also given.
"Thank you for the help of the West Java Provincial Government and also the private sector that is helping to preserve bamboo plants," he said during the opening of the Bamboo Vaganza Bamboo Champion at Gedung Sate, Wednesday (11/27).
Even for the marketing of bamboo handicrafts, his side has conducted various collaborations with many parties. For example, with hotels that are ready to buy bamboo crafts for lamps.
"Our target is to be able to build 100 creative tourism villages related to bamboo conservation and development," he explained.
Meanwhile West Java Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum said he had prepared a 25-hectare plot of land in Cianjur to plant bamboo trees.
"We are preparing land for planting bamboo. The aim is to develop and conserve various types of bamboo," he said.
In addition, he also hopes that the Armor community provides training to residents of villages to make handicrafts from bamboo. Because according to him bamboo trees are often found in villages not in cities.
