CIREBON CITY - "Ingsun entrusted with poor and poor people" is a sentence full of meaning spoken by Sheikh Syarif Hidayatullah alias Sunan Gunung Jati, one of the Wali Songo who spread Islam in Java, especially Cirebon.
Now, the message of the wali becomes the theme of the Tajug Festival in the framework of the 2019 National Santri Day held at the Kasepuhan Palace Palace in Cirebon, Cirebon.
The Tajug Festival was officially opened by the Vice President (Vice President) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Ma'ruf Amin on Friday (11/22/19). Also accompanying the Vice President is the Governor of West Java (West Java) Ridwan Kamil.
The governor, who is familiarly called Emil, said that West Java had implemented the Sunan Gunung Jati message to prosper the mosque in the form of community welfare improvement programs namely Mesra Credit, One Pesantren One Product (OPOP), and English for Ulama.
Intimate Credit for example. Since its launch in November 2018, there have been tens of thousands of poor people who have obtained interest-free and collateral business credit facilities through the mosque.
In addition, OPOP was able to make 1,100 pesantren in West Java successful and independent through providing capital and business training. As for the English for Ulama, five young West Java clerics, one of them from Cirebon, were sent to England to spread about a peaceful Islam.
"We have been translating advice from Sunan Gunung Jati for the past 12 months. Alhamdulillah, there are more than 18,000 poor people who are now free of moneylenders thanks to diligently visiting the Tajaj and getting help from the government, "Emil said in his remarks.
"This is our da'wah through power in West Java. Hopefully the Vice President can be pleased to succeed the Tajug Festival as a forerunner to the birth of a new Islamic civilization that triumphed through cohesiveness among all of us, "he added.
Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin in the meantime highly appreciated the title of the Tajug Festival because it was considered as one of the strategic steps to develop Islam through the construction of a mosque.
Not only that, the Vice President appealed for Sunan Gunung Jati's message to also be a momentum to raise awareness to keep the mosque from being used as a place to spread distorted teachings or hateful news.
Meanwhile, according to Sultan Sepuh XIV Prince Raja Adipati (PRA) Arief Natadiningrat, the theme 'Ingsun Entrusted Tajug lan Fakir Poor' in this year's Tajug Festival has a profound meaning about the call to protect the country and religion.
"Indeed, this is our duty, namely to protect the country and protect religion. Keeping the country that is poor, keeping religion that is tajug, "said Arief.
"Departing from this term, PBNU took the Sultanate to hold a Tajug Festival to jointly realize that the struggle must be balanced between the poor and poor. "Between countries and scholars, between the world and the hereafter, between white and red, between kiyai and officials," he said.
Not only the Indonesian Vice President and the Governor of West Java, the opening of the 2019 Tajug Festival was also attended by kings and sultans from various kraton in the country. The festival takes place on November 22-24.
