BANDUNG - Chancellor of Padjadjaran University Prof. Dr. Rina Indiastuti, M.SIE., Inaugurated two new professors in the Inauguration Procession and Scientific Oration of Professors Position held at Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata Unpad, Jalan Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung, Friday (11/8) afternoon.
The two professors who were confirmed were from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, namely: Prof. Dr. Eva Tuckyta Sari Sujatna, M.Hum., And Prof. Aquarini Priyatna, M.A., M.Hum., PhD. Prof. Eva was inaugurated as professor of Linguistics, while Prof. Aquarini was confirmed as a professor in the field of Literature and Gender.
In the procession, Prof. Eva delivered a scientific speech with the title "The Role of Linguistics in Tourism". Through his oration, Prof. Eva said that linguistics plays an important role in preparing complete information in the fields of culture and tourism and encouraging the development of leading tourism destinations in accordance with Presidential Instruction No. 16 of 2005 concerning Culture and Tourism Development Policy.
"As a basic knowledge in communication, language does not only function as a medium that connects tourists and local residents, but also as a tourism promotion tool offered to prospective tourists visiting Indonesia," he said.
Prof. Eva explained, the role of linguistics in tourism was found in naming the road to the location of tourist destinations which include natural, historical, and culinary tourism. Therefore, language is an inseparable element of tourism promotion efforts.
"I propose that linguists contribute by engaging in linguistic research related to tourism," explained Prof. Eva
Meanwhile, Prof. Aquarini delivered a scientific speech entitled "Auto / Biography as a Feminine / Feminist Narrative: Local-Global Trajectory, Celebrity, and Popular Culture". Prof. Aquarini said, narratives about women's lives can uncover deeper and deeper about views / values ??that are often considered true and sacred.
"Narratives about women's lives, especially those written by women, also provide articulation for women's lives and ways of life which are often considered secondary and marginal," said Prof. Aquarini, said the UNPAD PR.
In a study conducted on a number of women's auto / biographies, especially in Indonesian celebrities, Prof. Aquarini discovered the complexity of femininity that was shown and negotiated by female celebrities, both in the public and private / domestic sphere.
"Through their auto / biographical actions, these celebrities have re-evaluated and reaffirmed femininity in different ways, so that they created a new form of femininity that embraces local and global values, a new form of femininity that allows them to celebrate their lives and herself as a woman both in the public and domestic sphere, "said Prof. Aquarini.
On the same day, the Chancellor also confirmed Prof. Dr. Zuzy Anna, M.Sc., from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences and Prof. Dr. rer nat. Yudi Rosandi, M.Sc., from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Jo
