West Java Presents Mundinglaya in Petunra 2019

Pangkal Pinang - West Java appeared as the closing contingent on the first day of the 2019 National Level Folk Performing Festival (Petunra) on Wednesday 24 October 2019. The five previous contingents namely South Sumatra, West Sumatra, Central Kalimantan, Bangka Belitung Islands and West Papua featured stories each seeded to be judged by the seven judges who are competent in their fields.

No less interesting than the stories displayed by the five previous contingents, West Java featured Sundanese folklore, Mundinglaya Dikusumah.

Narrated in the Land of Pajajaran. Prabu Siliwangi has a child named Mundinglaya and a grandson named Sunten Jaya. Mundinglaya and Sunten Jaya are the same age, but both have very different characters. Mundinglaya is also good-looking, and Sunten Jaya is arrogant, spoiled and likes to incite.

Because of his nature, everyone loved Mundinglaya more, including his mother who spoiled him very much. Sunten Jaya felt jealous. Finally, Sunten Jaya spread hoax news about Mundinglaya and her mother, which caused chaos in the Kingdom of Pajajaran.

Even though the time was already shown at 10 pm, it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the audience to move from Alun Alun Taman Merdeka, Pangkal Pinang City.

Full support was obtained by the West Java contingent from the Sundanese Urang Society in Pangkal Pinang and the Viking Pangkal Pinang who were present shortly before the team appeared on stage.
