SUMEDANG - Director General of Electricity distributed certificates of free electricity connection to 3,000 households in Sumedang Regency, West Java (18/9/19).

Previously the Director General of Electricity Rida Mulyana had the opportunity to fill in tokens and turn on electricity for 3 (three) households in Ciulur Hamlet Village, Trumanggala Village, Cimalaka District, Kab. Sumedang.

The 450 VA New Electricity Assistance Program (BPLP), which was initiated by the Directorate General of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources until September 2019 has successfully completed 2,012 KK free electricity connections for residents of West Java.

"As of September 2019, there were 2,012 KKs that were connected well, the most heavy for the residents was the connection fee, therefore EMR felt the need to provide free electricity connections by cooperating with private companies in the West Java region," said Rida through a press release by the PLN Public Relations Jabar.

"For the initial stage, the free electricity connection is carried out in 6 Regencies / Cities with a target of 10,158 households (KK) spread across Bekasi Regency, Sumedang Regency, Cirebon Regency, Garut Regency, Cirebon Regency, Karawang Regency," he said.

In implementing this program, the community gets free electricity connection with 450 VA. The 450 VA power is enough to use a TV, rice cooker, and turn on the lights.

GM of West Java Distribution PLN, Iwan Purwana who was also present at the review event explained that previously the community was unable to connect from neighbors to get electricity.

This poor community previously got electricity from PLN. They are forced to connect from neighbors, pay 40 to 50 thousand for lights every month or use other lighting such as kerosene lamps.

"Through direct PLN electricity, they can make a lot of savings for monthly expenditure. And we hope that the assistance of this new pair can also have a positive impact on the economy of the citizens," said Iwan.

Wahyudin, one of the recipients of the BPLP program, said that this program helps residents to enjoy electricity. "Now I just need to pay around 30 thousand per month of PLN electricity. For lights, televisions and rice cookers and other electronic devices," he said

It is hoped that with this program more and more people will have better welfare and a higher Electrification Ratio in the West Java Region. Jo
