Ridwan Kamil: Writing doesn't have to be in the form of a book

BANDUNG - Entertaining through writing with Ridwan Kamil is one of the events in the 2019 Book Fest series that was held at Union Square Cihampelas Walk (Ciwalk) Bandung on Sunday 8 September 2019.

Book Fest 2019 is a title in order to welcome international literacy day and national library visit day by presenting popular Indonesian writers such as Ridwan Kamil, Atalia Praratya, Pidi Baiq, Ernest Prakarsa, Melly Goeslaw, Ferry Curtis and also Chef Davina.

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil attended a sharing session with Ernest Prakarsa, a writer, comic and film producer.

Emil, greeting Ridwan Kamil, said that as the times evolved, writing activities did not have to be in the form of books but could also be through social media. This is supported by Ernest's statement that currently there are so many media to write, one of which is wordpad.

For example, Emil mentioned one Instagram account, @humanofnewyork, where the account owner not only displayed photos but wrote about the human side of New Yorkers with a variety of stories.

Emil said that Atalia, who is also the Mother of Literacy in West Java, was fond of writing. He was pouring the results of his idea into a novel titled 42nd Man.

On that occasion, Emil gave Ernest Prakarsa a novel of Atalia's ideas to be read.

Emil also invited Atalia to the stage to read a little synopsis of the book that was in the printed stage.

"The number 42 means I am the 42nd man who expressed his love for my wife. Currently the novel is in the printing stage in the Dipati Ukur area," Emil said, greeted with laughter from the audience.

In his closing statement, Emil invited the people of West Java to be diligent in reading in order to better understand the world.
