Children with Special Needs Should be Concerned Against Disaster

BANDUNG-Understanding of disaster anticipation, is not owned by normally person, but also those with special needs should also understand it.

Therefore, today(11/04/16) Wahana Visi Indonesia supported by Prudence Foundation, Save the Children, Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection, Australian Aid, Mercy Malaysia, AADMER Partnership Group, and Plan International held a Disaster Simulation for children with special needs.

Vice Principal Counselling of SLB Negeri A Bandung, Muftiah Yulismi said SLB is chosen for these activities, because disabilities are often marginalised.

"They also have to get their rights to survive, they have to learn that in the general public or the existing disaster management strategies in ways that must be done," she said.

Muftiah expects this disaster simulation of children with special needs can quickly care for disasters, particularly earthquakes.

"The program is conducted in six countries, and in Indonesia only West Java chosen because geographically it quite vulnerable to disasters, especially earthquakes," she said.

According to Muftiah, this time focused on the simulation of an earthquake disaster, and to the proposed program will do the rest.

"Participants today are deaf, blind and students with special obstacles or tuna grahita. Therefore the visual with the auditory senses, its strength on the sound," said Muftiah to www.Jabarprov.go.id on the sidelines of the simulation in SLB Negri A Bandung, Monday (11/04).
