BANDUNG-The implementation of the 2020 National Paralympic Sports Week (Peparnas) is only a few months away, but until now all sports with special needs to be competed have not yet conducted training camps.
The Chairperson of the Indonesian Paralympic National Committee (NPCI) of West Java, Supriatna Gumilar, hopes that the West Java Provincial Government will pay attention to athletes and coaches ahead of the implementation of Peparnas.
"We have selected athletes who will strengthen the contingent in Peparnas 2020 and West Java to take part in all 13 contests," Supriatna said, when meeting with West Java Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, at Gedung Sate, Bandung, Friday (30) / 08).
According to Supriatna, although the selection of athletes who will strengthen the contingent on Peparnas 2020 has been done, but until now these athletes have not undergone training camps because they still have to wait for budget certainty.
"We are still waiting for the certainty of the budget from the West Java Provincial Government and for this regional training camp, we have proposed a budget of up to Rp 9 billion, however, what the West Java Provincial Government approved in the 2019 Amendment APBD is only Rp 1.5 billion and until now it has not gone down, "he said.
Supriatna stated, the amount of funds received will determine the number of athletes who will strengthen the contingents at the event as well as the sports that can be participated so that it will determine the number of medals to be obtained at the 2020 National National Sports Competition.
"A number of provinces that are competing with West Java, such as DKI Jakarta and East Java, have already conducted training camps. We need certainty to ensure the readiness of athletes, lest they move to other provinces," he said. (Parno)
