BANDUNG REGENCY- Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan with Acting West Java Regional Secretary Daud Achmad, and Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo, reviewed the 0 KM point of the Citarum River in Situ Cisanti, Kertasari District, Bandung Regency, Wednesday (28/8/19).

During his working visit, Luhut planted macadamia trees while also observing seedlings and scented root refiners.

On the same occasion, Luhut advised Citarum River Watershed farmers to replace vegetable crops into macadamia nut trees or citronella with economic value.

"So, we will try to gradually reduce these plants such as potatoes and other vegetables with other plants that produce the economy as well, like the macadamia tree and lemongrass," Luhut said.

"We hope that in the future a few thousand hectares (the upstream forest area of ??the Citarum river) can be planted with various kinds of trees," he added.

In addition, Luhut appreciated the good management of Situ Cisanti, although there were some things that were considered still lacking. He also said that he would draw up a mapping of the development of the Citarum River Basin with the President of Indonesia on Monday (2/8/19).

"Later Monday we want to have another meeting with the President to synergize the mapping from which we want to do next year," he said.

The same thing was said by David. According to him, the arrangement of Situ Cisanti has been much better, including the surrounding environment.

"Pak Luhut also said that people who have been gardening and growing crops have been given alternatives there, provided the plants are adapted to the KLHK program," he said.
