BANDUNG REGENCY - West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil said the presence of the Garuda Food and Barry Callebaut collaborative industry could answer problems in West Java related to the difficulties of the community in utilizing vacant land.
Emil - the Governor's called - said, the community could contribute by supplying basic goods to the factory. With education on planting procedures for the surrounding community, plantation lands owned by the community can also be empowered by industrial owners.
This point, said Emil, is a form of implementation of the Pancasila economy, that social justice is not only for industrial plantations or industrial estates.
"But (also) the most important thing is that industry needs can also be supplied by lands owned by residents," Emil said when inaugurating the Barry Callebaut Factory at the Garudafood Factory, Bandung Regency, Friday (8/23/19).
"The population is educated on how to plant it, its quality control, then at the end of a process it can be bought by the industry, so that all get the benefit of the economy. I think that's the biggest goal," he added.
The presence of the Barry Callebaut Factory itself adds to the long list of investors who have chosen their business locations in West Java. Now, more than 60 percent of national and international scale manufacturing companies are in West Java.
To note, in the first semester of 2019, West Java posted an investment realization of Rp69.7 trillion. It makes West Java be the number one global investment destination in Indonesia, beating DKI Jakarta and Central Java.
From an economic standpoint, the economy of West Java as 2018 recorded a growth of 5.64 percent. One of the most contributing to the economic growth is the manufacturing industry sector with a share of 42.16 percent.
So, Emil welcomed the inauguration of the collaborative factory Garuda Food and Barry Callebaut. He is so happy, Emil made a poem in English for President Barry Callebaut Asia Pacific, Ben De Schryver.
"Garudafood produce biscuits
Barry Callebaut makes chocolates
With innovation and collaboration every minutes
West Java's economy will be great," Emil said, applauded by the audience.
