Land Acquisition Inhibits the Development of UIII Depok, West Java Provincial Government Prepares Control Steps

DEPOK CITY - The Provincial Government of West Java will take a number of measures to control land acquisition which is an obstacle in the development of the Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII), Depok.

The control effort was carried out according to the direction of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla during a work visit to monitor the process of UIII development on Raya Bogor Street No. 9, Cisalak, Sukmajaya Sub-District, Depok City.

According to The Daily Task of Regional Secretary of West Java Province Daud Achmad, most of the land to be built by UIII belongs to Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI). Even so, the large number of occupations of land by the community was considered difficult for the land acquisition process.

"This vast land belongs to RRI, but some are occupied by the community, some are gardening, some are planting," Daud said while accompanying the Vice President's work visit related to the construction of the UIII campus in Depok, Thursday (22/8/19).

Daud said that his party had taken steps to acquire land in accordance with applicable regulations, that is giving compensation to affected communities even though it was not running optimally because it was still being rejected by the community.

"The direction of the Vice President earlier, there will be one more attempt, maybe the last effort, there is an effort to curb. This timeline was prepared by the Mayor of Depok, then the Chief of Police and the Deputy Chief of Staff also supported. Insyaallah, hopefully this land problem can be resolved, "said Daud.

Regarding development progress, Daud said that the UIII development was divided into three packages, that are the package of rectorate spaces and faculty buildings by PT Waskita (Persero), student dormitory packages and lecturer housing by PT Wijaya Karya (Wika), as well as road, bridge, fencing infrastructure packages and power house by PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero).

Based on the review, the progress of the rectorate and faculty building packages has reached 20 percent, while the progress of the infrastructure package has only reached approximately 7 percent.

The highest progress is the construction of student dormitories and lecturer housing which has reached 70 percent. Later the hostel has 240 rooms, 16 of which are for people with disabilities with an area of 15 square meters.

Regarding land that has not been acquired for student dormitory packages and lecturer housing, PT Wika Yulianto's Project General Manager said there were still around 9 percent of land that could not be cultivated. According to him, the process of land acquisition will be completed in October.

"Here there are around 9 percent that cannot be worked on (because land acquisition is hampered). It will be targeted for completion in October 2019, "Yulianto said.

Besides The Daily Task of the West Java Province Regional Secretary Daud Achmad, The Minister of Religion Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, The Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Syafruddin, to The Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara, and UIII Rector Komaruddin Hidayat also accompanied the Vice President on a working visit to UIII Depok.
