BANDUNG - Electrification or installation of electric power in West Java reaches 99.99 percent in 2018. The percentage of electrification in West Java exceeds the national electrification rate, that is 98 percent. The data was released by the Directorate General of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources .
Nevertheless, the Head of West Java Energy and Mineral Resources, Ai Saidah, the percentage of 0.01 percent is high considering the total population of West Java reaching 48 million. Therefore, her party continues to try to supply electricity to areas that have not been electrified yet.
"Only 0.01 percent people in West Java who have not received electricity. However, because the population is large, the figure is quite large and we need struggle and seriousness to help us get electricity," Ai said in Japri, in the Gedung Sate, Bandung, Friday (9/8/19).
"Those who have not been electrified will we do together in order to achieve electrification towards 100 percent," he added.
According to Ai, before the village electricity program was running in 2001, the percentage of electrification in West Java was only 52.16 percent. "For a period of almost 17 years or until 2018 the West Java Provincial Government has succeeded in connecting 298,456 families with electricity reaching a budget of Rp443 billion," she said.
Senior Affairs General Manager of West Java State Electricity Company (PLN) Distribution Andoko Suyono said, West Java became one of the provinces that participated in a large electricity system named Jamali (Java-Madura-Bali). Therefore, the electricity to the three islands are connected to each other.
"West Java itself has a peak load of 7,600 megawatts or 30 percent of the Jamali system," he said.
Andoko said, today, State Electricity Company (PLN) customers in West Java reached 14.2 million. The number is dominated by household customers with a percentage of 93 percent. According to him, every month West Java State Electricity Company (PLN) must connect electricity to 4,500 new customers.
"We in West Java State Electricity Company (PLN) continue to connect more than 4,500 new customers every month. This is also to meet the electrification ratio," he said.
In addition, Andoko ensured that electrification in West Java will reach 100 percent by the end of 2019. "0.01% has not been electrified yet and this is our commitment. InsyaAllah, by the end of 2019, it will be complete," he said.
