    West Java is Ready to Maintain Teachers' Champion and Skilled National Education Personnel

    BANDUNG CITY - 35 teachers and education personnel in West Java will take part in the National Election of Skilled and Dedicated Teachers and Personnel which will be held in Jakarta on August 18, 2019. The contingent will be released by West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil, in Gedung Sate, Bandung, on Thursday (8/8/19).

    The 35 teachers and education personnel were selected from the results of a selection in 27 districts / cities. They consisted of 20 women and 15 men with education qualifications of Doctoral degree (three people), Master degree (21 people), Bachelor degree (nine people), and Associate degree (two people) with the employment status of 26 civil servants and nine honorary.

    Last July, the West Java contingent received training through a two-steps special coaching at the West Java PGRI Building. During this time, the 35 teachers and educational staff were guided by academics and practitioners to reach their best performance while maintaining the title that had been achieved last year.

    "Reach your best achievements like in 2018 where West Java won the overall championship. I hope the title of overall champion will be claimed again this year," said Emil.

    Emil added, as an appreciation, the West Java Provincial Government (Pemdaprov) will give umroh prizes to all winners if they can maintain the title of overall champion. Besides, it is to trigger enthusiasm for teachers and other education personnel.

    "We appreciate by giving Umrah if we win; showing that we care, and to encourage other teachers to show the spirit as they are," Emil said.

    He said that at this time, his party is focused on improving the quality of Human Resources (HR); one way was through the policy of freeing up the tuition fees in high schools and vocational schools which will be started next year.

    "We will focus on improving the quality of human resources. The big news is that if there are no problems, next year, the tuition fees of high schools and vocational schools will be made free by the Provincial Government. It has become a joint commitment," Emil said.

    Another policy is that the vocational schools' revitalization to adjust to the Industrial Revolution 4.0. "So it is not dissolved, but revitalized the curriculum according to the demands of the times," he added.

    Also, to provide economic independence training to village communities through digital village programs and OPOP (One Pesantren One Product).

    The selection of the teachers' team to take part in the National Election of Skilled and Dedicated Teachers and Personnel was carried out six months ago with 35 categories; those were the category of Kindergarten teachers, Elementary School teachers, Junior High School teachers, special region of Elementary School and Junior High School teachers, High School teachers, Vocational Schools, Special Region of Vocational Schools, Inclusive Education Teachers, Special Elementary School, Special Junior High School, and Special Senior High School.

    While for educational staff, there are 18 categories; the Principal of Elementary School , Middle School, High School, Vocational School, Special School, Special Elementary School, Special Region of Middle School, supervisors of Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Vocational School, High School and administrative staff of Middle School, High School, Vocational School, Special School, library staff of Junior High School, High School, Vocational School, High School and Vocational Laboratory personnel, the constitution award for PPKN of High School, Vocational School, and Special School.

    "They will leave on the next Monday and start competing on August 18 in Jakarta," concluded the Head of West Java Education Office, Dewi Sartika.
