    West Java Governor Asks Pertamina to take Full Responsibility for the Oil Spill in Karawang


    BANDUNG - West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil has asked Pertamina to be responsible for the Pertamina Hulu Energy Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) oil spill in Karawang, starting from the business sector to environmental damage.

    "I ask Pertamina to take full responsibility for everything. From its business; fish which cannot be caught, fishermen who lose their livelihoods,mangroves damage, and others," said RK -- Ridwan Kamil's nickname - at the West Java Regional Police, Bandung, Wednesday (7/8/19).

    "I think it should be committed, completed 100 percent," he continued.

    RK is scheduled to review the location of the oil spill today. This was done to ensure how far the mitigation management has done by Pertamina.

    "Today I went there to make sure the directives had been done, because later I had to report to the President. Hopefully the process will take place," said RK.

    Furthermore, the RK also explained that the role of the West Java Provincial Government (Pemdaprov) regarding the incident is to coordinate with various related parties, so the survival of the affected society is not problematic.

    "One of them is compensation from loss of livelihood should also be completed by Pertamina," he concluded.
