    West Java in July Experienced Inflation of 0.39 Percent


    BANDUNG – West Java Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said that in July 2019, the West Java Combined Consumer Price Index (CPI) which covers seven cities that are Bogor city, Sukabumi city, Bandung city, Cirebon city, Bekasi city, Depok city, and Tasikmalaya city experienced an increase in the index. Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 136.30 in June 2019 to 136.83 in July 2019; thus inflation was 0.39 percent.

    The Head of West Java Central Bureau of Statistics Doddy Herlando cited the inflation rate of the calender year “year to date” (January-July 2019) of 2.54 percent and the inflation rate from year to year “year on year” (July 2019 against July 2018) was recorded at 3.49 percent.

    From seven expenditure groups that experienced inflation, that are foodstuffs group was 0.63 percent, the Food Group, Beverages, Cigarettes & Tobacco was 0.46 percent, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas & Fuel was 0.50 percent, Group Clothing by 0.60 percent, Health Group by 0.25 percent, and Education, Recreation & Sports by 0.94 percent. 

    “Meanwhile, the Transport, Communication & Finance group experienced a deflation of 0.47 percent,” he explained, Thursday (8/1/2019).

    From the seven CPI monitoring cities in West Java in July 2019, all experienced inflation that are Bogor city by 0.14 percent, Sukabumi city by 0.28 percent, Bandung city by 0.55 percent, Cirebon city by 0.24 percent, Bekasi city by 0.63 percent, Depok city by 0.05 percent, and Tasikmalaya city by 0.19 percent.
