BANDUNG - Bandung Government appealed to the society to keep calm and do not panic due to the eruption of Mount Tangkuban Parahu with ash column height observed ± 200 meters from the top or ± 2,284 meters above sea level, on Friday (26/07), at 15:48 WIB.
Head of the Bandung Fire and Disaster Management Agency, Dadang Iriana appealed to the society to keep calm and do not panic and expected to be more vigilant and careful in filtering information.
"For the Bandung society, especially in the North Bandung area, there is no need to worry but stay vigilant to address the Tangkuban Parahu eruption. So there's no need to worry, "Dadang said on Friday (07/26).
According to Dadang, now the Bandung Fire and Disaster Management Agency is already standby around Mount Tangkuban Parahu to keep the possibility of unexpected things happened.
"We ask the residents to be vigilant to anticipate greater things. But there is no need to worry moreover excessive panic, "he said.
Dadang also reminded the Bandung society to be more careful in filtering information and monitoring official information channels from the government through Fire and Disaster Management Agency or the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
"We are waiting for further information from Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). Fire and Disaster Management Agency is already on the field, "he said.
From the observation of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) from the Tangkuban Parahu Volcano Observation Post, the ash column looks gray with thick intensity leaning northeast and south and this eruption is recorded on seismograms with a maximum amplitude of 38 mm and ± 5 minutes 30 seconds.
