ENGLAND - West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil made an agreement about the development of processing plastic waste into biodiesel with the CEO of Plastic Energy Carlos Monreal in London, England, Monday (07/22/2019). Emil - Ridwan Kamil's address - targets the project with an investment value of around Rp 3 trillion to be realized in 2020.
"We have made a long MoU. Today, we agree directly with the CEO, we will provide land for them (Plastic Energy) rent, speed up the licensing process, then we provide plastic waste outside plastic bottles to be processed into energy in the form of green diesel, "he said.
According to Emil, the development of processing plastic waste into biodiesel will be carried out in five regions, those are Bogor, Bandung Raya, Bekasi, Tasikmalaya and Cirebon. "For the initial stages we build in Bogor and Greater Bandung," he said.
The location in Bogor is in Galuga with an area of 20 hectares, while Bandung Raya is located in the Gedebage area with an area of 10 hectares. Emil said, the investment value of one location reached IDR 630 billion. He also targets the review process until the permit is completed by the end of 2019, so that development can begin in January 2020.
Emil said, the existence of plastic waste processing is one of the solutions to overcome the problem of plastic waste, especially in the Citarum river and the sea. He also stressed that he had submitted the plan to President Joko Widodo and agreed.
"So far we have been campaigning for sorting plastic waste, but where has the sorted plastic waste been there is no solution. Now, with the presence of plastic energy, it will be solved,"he said.
"This is good news because all this time tipping fees have become a problem," he continued.
According to Emil, there are two ways to hand over plastic waste to Plastic Energy. The first is pure plastic waste. Then, the mixed garbage that Plastic Energy will later sort out. Of the 1,000 tons of garbage, approximately 100 tons of plastic waste is taken.
Plastic Energy CEO Carlos Monreal said that one ton of plastic waste can produce 85 liters of biodiesel. "Green diesel produced can be used for cars, trucks. "This garbage truck uses this too," he said.
In addition, said Carlos Monreal, his party will help the project's feasibility study. He also hopes that the other licensing process can be completed soon. "We can start building construction in early 2020," he said.
Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya said the project was in line with the waste sorting policy. He will also coordinate with the Bogor Regency Government because the fulfillment of 100 tons of waste per day cannot be fulfilled by his side. "Our plastic waste (Bogor City) is 84 tons per day," he said.
