BANDUNG - Located at the Gedung Sate page, Bandung, the Deputy Governor of West Java, Rushanul Ulum Law led a ceremony commemorating the International Anti-Narcotics Day (HANI) on Monday (7/15/2019).
In the Commemoration also symbolically carried out the destruction of narcotics results of operations that have been carried out by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of West Java.
In his speech, Uu Ruzhanul Ulum said West Java was a region that was quite vulnerable to drug trafficking. Nationally there is ranked 10th with total users reaching around 1.7 percent nationally or around 800 thousand people.
"2.5% are of productive age, so it's very unfortunate," he said.
He said that in order to prevent the increasingly widespread narcotics circulation, good cooperation between the community and law enforcement is needed. According to him, it cannot give up drug prevention only to the government.
"The public should not be afraid to report to the authorities if they find drug trafficking. On the other hand the government continues to make laws and even local regulations related to narcotics prevention efforts," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of West Java BNN Brig. Gen. Sufyan Syarief said that during 2019 it had secured 240 kg of marijuana and 3.5 kg of methamphetamine.
"Nationally there are even more, up to 40 tons of narcotics. This means that we must always be vigilant starting from the family," he said. He added that the disclosure of narcotics circulation cases carried out by the West Java National Narcotics Agency was successful. It saved at least 1.5 million people. Jo
