PANGANDARAN REGENCY- West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil inaugurated a garbage bank ‘Sehate’ The Gade Clean and Gold in Cikembulan Village, Sidamulih District, Pangandaran Regency, Saturday (07/13/2019). With the garbage bank, he hopes there will be no plastic waste that pollutes the sea in West Java.
"We prioritize first in the tourism area, so Pangandaran is used as a launching place so that other West Java tourist attractions will also be clean. Hopefully, one day, there will be no more garbage, especially plastic that pollutes the Indonesian ocean from West Java," he said.
With the presence of a garbage bank ‘Sehate’ The Gade Clean and Gold, the people of West Java can exchange trash into gold. However, it is not instant. People must deposit garbage at different prices depending on the type. Later, the results of the deposit will be collected first in the waste bank until the total is equivalent to gold.
The garbage to gold conversion program, said Emil - Ridwan Kamil's familiar words - is an innovation and cooperation between the West Java Provincial Government (Pemdaprov) and PT Pegadaian (Persero).
"This is an innovation that from now on garbage in West Java can be converted into gold savings by way of sorting the resulting garbage deposited into the waste bank. Later there will be prices depending on the type of waste. Then, converted into money, but not in cash but in the form of savings gold, "he said.
Emil also said, PT. Pegadaian has committed, if the waste savings has reached 3.5 kilograms, it will be given one seat for the pilgrimage. "If the gold savings has reached 3.5 kilograms, the pilgrimage will be registered and it will be guaranteed to get one seat by Pegadaian," he said.
Therefore, Emil urged the public to immediately sort out the trash and exchange it to the garbage bank. Besides being able to reduce the waste pile, it will also be a positive habit for the community to maintain environmental cleanliness.
"With the positive habit of sorting and depositing garbage, suddenly one day there was news that it was ready to go on hajj. I think this is positive, especially for the middle to lower classes," Emil said.
Directors of PT Pegadaian Teguh Wahyono revealed, his party has social responsibility to the community, especially regarding environmental hygiene. In addition, the program also supports the West Java Provincial Government in reducing plastic waste.
"One of the concepts of our CSR is environmental hygiene and hygiene because we also want to contribute to helping the community's worship," he said.
