    Provincial Government Welcomes The Creation Factory of High-Speed Train in Walini

    BANDUNG - West Java Provincial Government welcomed the central government's plan to build the creation factory of high-speed train in Walini, Cikalong, West Bandung regency.

    According to West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, this project is projected would accelerate the new city development, Walini that has been planned.

    "It will be the accelerator in designed the creation of an independent city that have been planned by central government, state-owned enterprise (BUMN), and West Java provincial government.     From the information compiled, this project is according to the plan of high-speed rail-line between Jakarta-Bandung that won by Chinese consortium.

    In this factory, a number of national business will cooperate, such as PT. INKA and PT. Len Industri to create and also conduct the knowledge transfer from the joint venture company, PT. Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC).

    KCIC projected to manage the high-speed train in ASEAN and Middle East. In addition Walini, there are four areas targeted to development, such as Karachi while the other three have not been sure.

    Walini city will be built on an area of 3,000 hectares, precisely in the Maswati Village, Cikalong Wetan, West Bandung regency (KBB). This region will be a residential, business center, administrative center, and Asia Africa Village. Land wholly owned by PTPN VIII will optimise the unproductive land from the state company.

    For accessing, the provincial government will utilize Cipularang toll road and highway construction of Ciawi-Sukabumi, Sukabumi-Cianjur, and Cianjur-Padalarang. More of that, they will add the high-speed railway network and the existing conventional rail around the area. The function development of this area is in accordance with existing regulations as on the West Bandung District Regulation No. 2 of 2012 and the Spatial Plan (RTRW) in 2009.

    Another interesting thing from Walini City is the plan to establish a new campus ITB, which is planned as Green Techno-Art Campus in the wider area, more green, and strategic to fulfils the needs of higher education in the future, as a solution to produce more engineering graduates.

    It is appropriate with directives by ITB Rector who assigns the ITB Walini Development Team (2020) as the executor of the preparation of this master plan. These campus will be the Knowledge and Innovation hub for all universities in Indonesia.

    In the early stages, for a period of 10 to 15 years, this new campus will accommodate up to 30,000 students and produce up to 10,000 graduates per year. And also the research report in solving the problems in the world of industry and other production sectors.

    Walini ITB Campus Development (2020) is estimated require a first budget approximately is 7 trillion for 10 years period. This development funds derived from the source funds of the Central Government, Local Government, Indonesian and international donor.
