MAJALENGKA REGENCY- Good news for the people who will go to West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati. The government will eliminate Damri buses from all routes to BIJB Kertajati for one year as of August 1, 2019. This is as a form of compensation for the completion of the Cisumdawu toll road which is the main access for the Bandung route to BIJB Kertajati.
"While waiting for the Cisumdawu toll road to be completed in the next year. So, for one year the government subsidized Damri to be free," said RI Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi while reviewing BIJB Kertajati on Saturday (07/07/2019).
The review was conducted to see the development of the number of BIJB Kertajati passengers after the transfer of several flight routes from Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport on July 1, 2019. Also accompanied by Deputy Governor of West Java Uu Ruzhanul Ulum.
According to Budi, the Cisumdawu toll road is expected to be completed by mid-2020. In addition, said Budi, his party has coordinated with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing related to the acceleration of the construction of the Cisumdawu toll road. If the 60 kilometer toll road is completed, then the trip from Bandung to BIJB Kertajati is only one hour.
"I have met with the Minister of PUPR, he made sure the Cisumdawu toll road was completed in mid-2020," Budi said. "A one-hour trip to the airport is reasonable, there are also many other airports like that," he continued.
Budi said, based on reports from the BIJB Kertajati, load factors every day showed a rising graph. Currently, the BIJB Kertajati load factor reaches 70 percent. The lift shows that the second largest airport in Indonesia is in demand or relatively acceptable to the public.
"I asked some passengers that they were relatively satisfied that there were even a number of foreign tourists here," he said.
"In conclusion, the transfer to Kertajati Airport was successful. It was said that passengers from Karawang said that going to Jakarta is better here. From Tegal there is also, they are happy because it is closer to here than to Semarang," he continued.
Therefore, Budi stated that he would not only free Damri buses for a year, but also add to the bus fleet. It was taken to anticipate a surge in passengers. According to him, the flight route at BIJB Kertajati is also planned to be added.
"Currently there are 12 routes. If there is a request from the community, we will definitely add, especially those far away such as Manado, Kendari and others," he said.
"Kertajati's capacity can reach 5 million per year, meaning that every day it can take 200 take-offs and landing because the airport is very wide and possible," he added.
According to Budi, Angkasa Pura II also proposed that there be a flight from Husein Sastranegara Airport to BIJB Kertajati. The plan, in the next two weeks there will be an exclusive flight in the form of a helicopter taxi.
"For those who want an exclusive trip, we will provide a helicopter taxi from Bandung to Kertajati, starting in two weeks," he said.
Budi also did not forget to appreciate the steps of the West Java Provincial Government (Pemdaprov), which intensively carried out socialization of airport transfers. Budi also asked the West Java Provincial Government to become the leader in promoting the BIJB Kertajati through a tourism approach.
"The West Java Provincial Government must continue to promote this airport through tourism, especially Cirebon culture which has great potential and is widely known," he said.
West Java Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanul saw a significant increase in passengers after the transfer to BIJB Kertajati. In order to continue to increase the number of passengers, he said, his party instructed 27 Regional Heads in West Java to participate in socializing the BIJB Kertajati.
"I will order the regional head to socialize to the citizens, including expecting some regional heads in Central Java," he said.
"I am optimistic that Kertajati will grow and be in demand. Earlier, some of their passengers were happy because it was not jammed, the area was beautiful, facilities were good, they claimed to be satisfied, I think it represented," he said.
