    Launching Tourism Calendar, Ridwan Kamil Targets 49.8 Million Tourists

    BANDUNG CITY- Governor Ridwan Kamil targets 49.8 million tourists to visit West Java throughout 2019. The target consists of 48 million domestic tourists and 1.8 million foreign tourists.

    Emil, the nickname of Ridwan Kamil, is optimistic that the target will be met as the launch of the 2019 West Java Calendar of Events or 2019 West Java Tourism Calendar.

    The tourism calendar, which was first created by the Regional Government of West Java Province, presents 262 tourism agenda, both art, culture, culinary, religious, and others.

    "The target of 1.8 million foreign tourists and 48 million foreign tourists in 2019. With the West Java event calendar, it is expected to have a positive impact and achieve these targets," said Ridwan Kamil when launching the West Java Calendar of Event 2019 at The Trans Luxury Hotel Bandung, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Bandung City, Tuesday (06/25/19).

    The 262 tourism events will be held throughout West Java, covering 35 events in Region I consisting of Bogor City / Regency, Sukabumi City / Regency, Cianjur, and Depok.

    While 14 events in Region II cover Purwakarta, Subang, Karawang Regencies, and Bekasi City / Regency. 66 events in Region III were held in (Cirebon City / Regency, Indramayu, Kuningan, and Majalengka District).

    While 147 events in Region IV consisted of (Bandung City / Regency, West Bandung District, Cimahi City, Tasikmalaya City / Regency, Sumedang, Garut, Ciamis, Pangandaran, and Banjar Districts.

    Art is still a mainstay with 113 tourism events, followed by 85 event cultures, 83 culinary events, 24 sports events, 6 religious events, and 11 other tourism events.

    Of the 262 tourism agendas, there were six events that entered the 100 Indonesia Wonderful Calendar of Event 2019, namely the Asia Africa Festival, Mizan Al Sufi, Garut Culture Enchantment, Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu Geopark Festival, Tour de Linggarjati, and Cirebon Culture Festival.

    "This tourism event actually has thousands but is curated by us who are professional in scale, involve the community, have an economic impact and have positive images, so this is the superior tourism potential of West Java," explained Emil.

    According to him, the 2019 West Java Calendar Event aims to strengthen the tourism sector as the economic powerhouse of West Java. Emil hopes that tourist visits have an impact on increasing regional income in the tourism sector to reach five points.

    "With this target, we are preparing a West Java tourism portfolio in a number of approaches, namely nomadic traveler, digital tourism, halal and culture, with the millennial main market segmentation of 50 percent," Emil said.
