MAJALENGKA - A total of 56 domestic flights in Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport were transferred to West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati, Majalengka, on July 1, 2019. All domestic parties had agreed to move operational flights, including airlines.

Indonesia Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said, 56 domestic flights that moved to BIJB Kertajati were jet-type aircraft. Meanwhile, propeller aircraft and international flights remain at Husein Sastranegara Airport.

"We are planning at the latest July 1, 2019 because there are stages on July 20 and July 23. So, there are 56 flights that have moved from Husein to Kertajati," he said when checking BIJB Kertajati preparations, Majalengka, Tuesday (06/18/2019) .

"What remains in Bandung are all propoller aircraft and all foreign flights with a total of 32 flights (20 propollers and 12 international flights). That is the part that we have agreed on. God willing, we can do it well," he continued.

Domestic flights that move to BIJB Kertajati include flights to Banjarmasin, Batam, Bali, Medan, Pekanbaru, Pontianak, Ujung Pandang with Garuda, Lion, Sriwijaya, Nam, Wings, Air Asia, Citilink airlines.

"It is likely to increase because there are still many slots. Better wide-body aircraft in Kertajati are not in Bandung," said Budi Karya.

"We are indeed designing this for a more advanced future in West Java because here there is a port, tourism equipped with airports. Our hope is to be something that is proud for the people of West Java, in particular and Indonesia in general," he continued.

West Java Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum said the plan was highly anticipated by the public. Not only the people of West Java, but also some of the people of Central Java which borders the Land of Pasundan.

"Thank you to the central government for supporting the use of Kertajati Airport, where the airport's operations are highly anticipated by residents of West Java and parts of Central Java at the border," he said.

According to Uu Ruzhanul, the operation of the BIJB Kertajati will boost West Java Regional Revenue (PAD). "Of course our PAD will increase and the economy of surrounding communities will also be boosted," he said.

In addition, Uu Ruzhanul ensured that the two-level Regional Heads around the Kertajati BIJB, such as Cirebon, Kuningan, Majalengka, Sumedang, Indramayu, and Subang, had committed to building the supporting facilities and infrastructure of the airport.

"The regional heads have committed (commitment) to build supporting facilities and infrastructure, such as transportation modes to the airport, and others," he said.

Even so, the West Java Provincial Government (Pemdaprov) will accelerate the completion of the Cisumdawu toll road as access to the BIJB Kertajati. "Access to the airport has been discussed, God willing, everything will be finished in the near future," said Uu Ruzhanul.

PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II Director Awaludin added, his party as the operator was conducting an integration-based arrangement. That is, the division of roles between Husein Airport and BIJB Kertajati as well as Halim Perdana Kusuma and Soekarno Hatta so that there is a balance of air traffic.

"This is related to the balancing of traffic. We have coordinated with all parties so that all transfers can run smoothly," he said.

Based on data from Angkasa Pura II, Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport flies 88 aircraft daily and 68 of them are jet planes. After this domestic flight was transferred to BIJB Kertajati, Husein Sastranegara Airport will only operate 20 domestic flights and 12 international flights.

The average number of passengers at Husein Sastranegara Airport, namely 9,050 Pax (domestic) and 810 Pax (international) with a total of 10,670 Pax. After the transfer of domestic flights by type of jet to BIJB Kertajati, the average number of passengers at Husein Sastranegara Airport is 1,440 Pax (domestic) and 810 Pax (international) with a total of 3,060 Pax.

For the use of the Apron Capacity based on the summer 2019 flight schedule, from the 15 hours of operation of the Husein Sastranegara Airport there are 10 hours that are full at certain hours. After domestic flights with jet type aircraft are transferred to BIJB Kertajati, it will reduce the density of aircraft movements both on the runway and at the apron.
