BANDUNG - West Java International Airport BIJB Kertajati is likely to fail to become the West Java Hajj embarkation in 2019. The cancellation is related to the unavailability of Saudi Airline to switch routes from Soekarno Hatta Airport to BIJB. West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil stated that at Gedung Sate after meeting, Monday (06/11/2019).
"Yes, what I am with the latest developments is that the Saudi airline has objected to moving the route this year. They have already signed a contract with the Cengkareng party well in advance," he said.
Kang Emil, as Ridwan Kamil said, denied that the cancellation was due to infrastructure reasons at BIJB.
"It has nothing to do with infrastructure readiness, because we have already stated that we are ready for that matter," said Kang Emil.
According to him, the government has tried to make BIJB an embarkation of Hajj, but the decision is not only on its side.
"Yes, if asked disappointed, I am not disappointed, the point is I have tried but the decision is not entirely on me or the central government," concluded Ridwan Kamil.
Previously it was reported that BIJB had been prepared to become West Java 2019 hajj embarkation. Everything was prepared including the hotel where the prospective pilgrims stayed and talks with Saudi Ailine who finally decided to continue using Cengkareng as an embarkation. (Even)
