West Java Governor's Souvenir from Kenya: Arrival of the UN Team

PURWAKARTA - There are souvenirs brought by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil after becoming the keynote speaker at the 1st United Nations (UN) Habitat Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya, on Monday, May 27 2019 yesterday. One of them is the plan for the arrival of the United Nations (UN) team to Pasundan Land.

Emil - Ridwan Kamil's familiar greeting - said that the UN would provide assistance to the West Java Provincial Government (Pemdaprov) to complete a number of programs, such as the Citarum Watershed and Waste to Energy watershed projects.

"The UN team will come to West Java. One, the Citarum project will also be assisted with UN funds. Then the development of the environmental program, Waste to Energy will also be assisted, "he said while reviewing the Integrated Post of Cikopo with the Indonesian Minister of Transportation, Indonesian Minister of Health, TNI Commander, and National Police Chief on Friday (05/31/2019).

"About six points, we will sign, the UN Director in one or two months will go to Bandung. Because the provision must be picked up, waiting for us to go there, West Java returns to be the priority of all regions in the world that become UN cooperation, "he continued.

In his speech, Emil explained a series of innovations and collaborations initiated by the West Java Provincial Government in the development and improvement of the quality of urban life. Because, in 2050, 70 percent of the world's people will live in cities. Because of the surge in population that is difficult to break down, the city will turn into a place shrouded in pollution.

There are two ways that can be taken to solve the problem. First, of course, to reduce the amount of urbanization. If this method is difficult to realize, the government, said Emil, must improve the quality of life of urban communities. One of them is to change happiness into policy.

"I convey many messages about the inclusiveness of development. There should be no citizens left behind, about the theory of happiness. Do not pursue infrastructure business and others, "he said.

After listening to Emil's speech, all delegates from 193 countries not only gave appreciation, but also planned to make an agreement and will learn to West Java in boosting people's happiness via policy.

"I am happy because this theory was successfully accepted by the whole world. They (delegates) will make an agreement to learn from West Java with my experience as a Mayor to make a new paradigm. Inner happiness is also often forgotten, even though it is very important, "he said.

In addition, Emil stated that the Provincial Government of West Java will also try to maintain and increase the happiness of its people.

"The concept is to provide public services to homes, like doctors to home, and so on. So, the country comes to citizens, not citizens who come to the country, "he concluded.
