BANDUNG CITY- Governor Ridwan Kamil on behalf of the West Java Provincial Government expressed his deep condolences over the death of Ustaz Arifin Ilham in Penang, Malaysia, Wednesday (22/5/19) night.
Emil, the Governor's nickname, said that Ustaz Arifin Ilham was a West Javanese cleric who was instrumental in forming the character of the ummah through various activities at the Az-Zikra Islamic Boarding School.
"We are very sad and lost. He is an outstanding West Javanese cleric and our teacher, "he said after attending the press conference of the Bandung West Java Marathon Pocari Sweat Run, Gedung Sate, Dipenogoro Street, Bandung, Thursday (05/23/19).
The governor and the deceased have extraordinary friendship relations. Every time he met, the deceased always gave advice to the Governor.
"I've met more than six times. He often advised me. Then, we also support the businesses and Islamic boarding schools that we develop, "he said.
The governor still remembers the simple but meaningful advice in Ustaz Arifin Ilham to himself. The message is not to forget Allah SWT.
"The foundation that he instills is whatever we do, our mind and our mouth do not forget to always mention the lafadz of Allah SWT," he said.
"Then the knowledge and messages that he gave us his students may be useful in all aspects of life," he said.
Emil always prayed for the deceased charity received by Allah SWT, given a spacious and bright place in the grave, forgiven all his mistakes, and the family left behind was given fortitude and patience. (*)
