The Potential of Sundanese Culture in Sumedang Needs to be Maintained and Developed

SUMEDANG - Sumedang is one of four districts that will be the location for the development of the center of Sundanese culture, in addition to Ciamis, Garut, and Subang. According to the Deputy Governor of West Java Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, Sumedang Larang deserves to be developed as the center of Sundanese culture.

"The potential of Sumedang Larang is one of our priorities for us to develop," Uu Ruzhanul said in remarks at the Ramadan 1440 Hijri Safari at the Sumedang Grand Mosque on Monday (5/20/19).

In addition to highlighting Sumedang Larang, Uu Ruzhanul emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in all West Java Regional Governments. Collaboration and innovation, he said, is the key to accelerating development programs to realize West Java Inner Born Champion.

"We want to be together with Sumedang Regency to build West Java. Our desire is to collaborate and innovate," he said.

Uu Ruzhanul stated that the Ramadhan Safari was held to continue the tradition of the previous leaders, namely building friendliness and togetherness. The goal is that communication between the Regional Government of West Java Province and District / City Government is well established.

"This communication is important because our program must reach the public directly," he said.

In the activity, the West Java Provincial Government via the West Java National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) handed over donations to 50 orphans / needy people amounting to Rp. 12.5 million, 10 salafiyah Islamic boarding schools for Rp. 5 million, and Rp. 2 ,5 million.

In addition, through Banzas, Sumedang Regency, assistance was also given in the form of symbolic food to 10 marbot mosques.

Sumedang Regent Donny Ahmad Munir expressed his gratitude to the West Java Provincial Government and West Java Baznas for their compensation. He also hopes that the compensation can motivate other parties or the Sumedang community to increase attention to orphans and the poor.

Moreover, said Donny, Article 34 paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution states that the poor and neglected children are maintained by the state.

"It is our necessity and religion to continue to pay attention to the poor and orphans. And this (compensation) is one of its realization," he said.

Also present were the Head of the West Java Provincial Secretariat for Social Services and Development, Ida Wahida Hidayati, representatives of Sumedang District Forkopimda elements, as well as parties from the Baznas of West Java Province and Sumedang District.
