BIJB Kertajati Welcomes Good Transfer of Route from Husein Sastranegara

MAJALENGKA, - Kertajati International Airport (KJT) welcomes the transfer of flight routes outside Java which are currently still being served at Husein Sastranegara Airport (BDO) Bandung. The flight shift was to divide the role of two airports which currently operate in the same province.

Everything related to the operation to the airport in Kertajati has been declared ready. The mode of transportation is to support the optimization of flights from the second largest airport after Soekarno-Hatta also operates again if the flight is reopened from Kertajati, Majalengka.

"We first want to appreciate and thank the Minister of Transportation (Budi Karya Sumadi) who has committed since the beginning to enliven this Kertajati Airport," said Director of PT BIJB Muhamad Singgih in his statement, Wednesday 8 May 2019.

Singgih admitted, in a joint meeting of the Ministry of Transportation in Jakarta on Tuesday 7 May 2019, it was agreed that the division of temporary roles between Husein Sastranegara and Kertajati. The meeting was attended by stakeholders from the airport authority, and the operator of Kertajati Airport, PT Angkasa Pura II.

As a result, Husein Sastranegara continues to operate by serving routes in Java and Bandar Lampung. As for international routes, Hussein continues to serve Malaysia and Singapore. Whereas the long distance or outbound routes of Java will all be diverted to Kertajati. "The implementation can be before Eid or after Eid. But the maximum is June 15, 2019," he explained.

The consideration of transferring long-distance routes is also related to air traffic in Kertajati which is still relatively quiet. It is inversely proportional to Husein Sastranegara, which is already busy serving flights every day. The final decision was taken so that Kertajati Airport could be optimal in terms of flight services.

Singgih added, Kertajati Airport facilities are very ready to serve domestic and international flights. The length of the runway is 3000 meters x 60 meters, and the parking stand can accommodate 22 aircraft, ensuring that the airport is ready to serve flights anytime.

From Singgih connectivity, there is also no sanction. While waiting for the completion of the Cileunyi - Sumedang - Dawuan (Cisumdawu) toll road as the main access to Kertajati Airport, Cipali Toll can still be relied on. This toll road is also the one that has so far been used for transportation to Kertajati Airport. "Bandung to Kertajati via Cipali Toll Road is only two and a half hours using private or public vehicles," said Singgih.

According to him, there are 12 partners and nine routes in West Java that have been served from and to Kertajati Airport. Besides travel, there is Perum Damri, a transportation mode that has provided and added its fleet whenever needed. Transportation partners to reach Kertajati Airport namely Bandung, Indramayu, Tasikmalaya, Sumedang Regency, Majalengka Regency, Kuningan, Purwakarta, Cirebon and Bekasi Regency. All of them are starting to serve passengers again on May 15, 2019. "It means that people don't need to worry anymore about how to reach Kertajati Airport. This will also continue to grow to other regions as the people demand," Singgih added.

Previously, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said that Kertajati Airport was evaluating the matter after it was inaugurated in May 2018. "We will do an evaluation, and we have also met with the governor, the steps we take are all those departing from Java departing from Kertajati not from Husein Sastranegara Airport," Budi said during a Bus inspection on Homecoming Readiness at Leuwipanjang Terminal, Bandung, Tuesday May 7, 2019.
