    Limit Foreign Ownership in Fish Processing Industry


    BANDUNG-Member of Commission IV of the House of Representatives from PKS faction, Hermanto rejected the proposal of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti who want to open up to 100% foreign ownership in the manufacturing sector of fisheries. If it be opened 100% on foreign ownership, the 100% added value would also become foreign-owned.

    "Foreign ownership is limited to a maximum of 60%, so that we can also get the value from this industry," Herman said in a press release submitted to jabarprov.go.id, on Wednesday (21/10).

    These PKS politician expects a revision of the rules in order to direct foreign investors to eastern Indonesia. During this time, many complaints about the difficulty of selling the fish from the fishermen there.

    "Our potential is very large in Maluku, North Maluku and Papua, so it should optimize the potential to multiply the fish processing there,” said Herman.

    Revision of the rules must contain a clause to recruit local labor. In February the Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the working population is still dominated by low-educated population, which is elementary as much as 45.19% and junior high school amounted to 17.77%.

    "Company should optimise to use local blue collar workers. It should absolutely filled by Indonesia citizen because of the majority of the workforce is poorly educated population, "said Herman.
