BANDUNG CITY- In an effort to realize a digital province, the West Java Provincial Government collaborates with cloud computing company Amazon Web Service (AWS) owned by the richest person in the world today, Jeff Bezos.
West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said, after lengthy negotiations, one of the world's largest e-commerce technology companies was interested in investing in West Java in 2019.
"We continue to lobby technology companies to come to West Java as the largest and most prepared province. Alhamdulillah, from this lobbying, the biggest e-commerce technology company besides Alibaba is Amazon willing to invest," said Ridwan Kamil, at Gedung Sate, Diponegoro Street, Bandung City, Thursday (04/25/19).
Unmitigated, the value of Amazon's investment reaches tens of trillions of rupiah. Emil, as Ridwan Kamil said, said, Amazon was ready to build data center technology in three areas of West Java as the Asia Pacific backbone.
But Emil was reluctant to mention the three regions because they were still in the discussion stage. "What is certain is not in Bandung Raya, I point to other regions, the value is tens of trillions of rupiah," he said.
In the discussion, Emil asked Amazon to build 4.0 Institute to educate millennials and generation Z. "Later it will meet the needs of one million jobs," Emil said.
Amazon's data center technology will also serve the startup needs of e-commerce businesses. So far the Asia Pacific data center backbone is in Singapore.
"This data center technology will serve the needs of startups of e-commerce business people who have entrusted their data center to Singapore," he explained.
At present, Singapore has the most sophisticated data center in Southeast Asia. But Emil believes, one day will be rivaled by the presence of the Amazon in West Java.
"Singapore has the most sophisticated data center in Southeast Asia, we will compete with this presence so that our money does not run abroad," Emil concluded. (*)
