BANDUNG - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil has asked West Java residents to temporarily refrain from posting on social media content related to the 2019 Presidential Election.
It is feared that all posts relating to politics are perceived negatively by others who have the potential to divide the nation. The Governor invited West Java residents to focus on working productively again.
"The public must focus on working on productive things. Encouraging each other, do not divide with unnecessary opinions. Reduce political posts related to elections in social media," said the Governor in the West Java Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (FKPD) with Interfaith Leaders , Chairperson of Civil Society Organizations, and Editor in Chief at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters, Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Bandung, Monday (04/22/19).
Emil, the nickname of Ridwan Kamil, said that the 2019 Presidential and Legislative Elections had been held. At present the community remains patient waiting for the results of official calculations from the General Election Commission on 22 May.
"We have agreed on the procedure for this election from the process, implementation and method of calculating it. I ask that we be patient we wait for the official results, whatever the results we must accept and support," he said.
In addition, Emil also hopes that the mainstream media will become a reference for the public in order to reduce coverage of political dramas that will actually worsen the atmosphere.
"The message for the media at this time is better to show entertainment, developments and soothing things," Emil said.
In the meeting attended by interfaith leaders, the community, and community organizations, the Governor conveyed that in general the implementation of the 2019 Election in West Java was smooth and conducive.
"Alhamdulillah, the conducivity during yesterday's election was successfully shown in West Java, so we are grateful for the hard work and sacrifice of all parties," Emil said.
