Most Waste Banks in West Java

BANDUNG - Nationally, the number of garbage banks as recorded by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry reached 7,700 units. Of that number around 1,700 units are in West Java.

This was stated by LHK Minister Siti Nurbaya during the launching and inauguration of the Bandung Regency main waste bank recycling center and the recycling management center in six regions in West Java, which was centered in Bandung Regency, Monday (15/4).

Minister LHK said the construction of the facility was a step in supporting the achievement of the Harum Citarum target that the president wanted to complete in 7 years. He said this step would be an example for river revitalization efforts in other areas outside West Java.

"This tells us that the handling of waste is more important to do since from the point of the household. Thus the garbage will decrease," he said.

The minister added that based on Presidential Regulation number 97/2017, the government is targeting a reduction of household waste by 30 percent and up to 70 percent by 2025.

In five years he said he would continue to restore Citarum from upstream to downstream or to Karawang. He even said that he had prepared four directors who were closely related to Citarum's conservation efforts.

"There will be a lot of garbage bank posts along Citarum," he said. Jo
