BANDUNG - Chair of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso and the Governor of West Java inaugurated the Micro Waqaf Bank in the Islamic Boarding School Complex in Ciganitri Street, Bandung Regency, Saturday (6/5).
Wimboh said that he would continue to formalize the existence of the Micro Waqaf Bank throughout Indonesia, especially West Java, because its existence would greatly help micro-economic actors.
"Many have been inaugurated, then in Cirebon, Cianjur, Sukabumi and others," he said.
He said that the number of locations of the Micro Waqaf Bank would not be difficult in carrying out supervision because all had used integrated technology systems. Customer movements and financing will be monitored.
"There is IT to supervise, but the main thing is supervision from the heart, so the goal is to help micro. Well, if you have become a UMKM, we have prepared a strategy," he explained.
West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil added that there are around 8 thousand pesantren in West Java. If every Islamic boarding school has a Micro Waqaf Bank, there will be 24 million people who will be helped in terms of business financing.
"One bank can help around 3 thousands of micro-businesses, meaning that it can reduce the number of poor people. If this works," he said.
He targets the micro banks to be used as well as possible by residents, especially the poor, to avoid being caught by loan sharks. Jo
