Ridwan Kamil: Coffee, The Only "No Problem" Commodity

BANDUNG - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said coffee was the only commodity that had never been "troubled" in the world. For this reason, Emil, the nickname of Ridwan Kamil, will continue to push this commodity, one of which is by moving the offices of trade representatives who are usually located in elite areas into coffee cafes.

"What is not a problem in the whole world is only one commodity, the name is coffee. In Scandinavia, in Africa, or Australia, the name is the same coffee. So it is named coffee diplomacy, as the door to sell others that sell well in the area," Emil said after opening the 2019 HAKORNAS event at Gedung Sate Bandung, Tuesday (03/19/19).

"So I conveyed there was an idea because the Ministry of Trade has trade representatives in each country, but it is in elite offices, in luxurious areas," he added.

Later, the trade representative will be based in the West Java coffee cafe, which might be named the 'Jabarano' cafe.

According to Emil, this concept was made to simplify the transaction process because buyers can see directly the products sold in the cafe.

"With this concept, it means people will trade, but later they can see products that are worth selling in the region or country. The Minister is willing because the concept is too formal so far, so it will follow the market more," he said.

    Facilitate Exports of MSME Products

In addition, as a follow-up to his visit to several Middle Eastern and African countries some time ago, Emil said that it would facilitate the export process of MSME products (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) by conducting direct trade.

"He (Minister of Trade) supports direct trade with the Dubai Team that I bring so that the export of MSME products is not a hindrance because those who will come to West Java are buyers who also have shops or malls in their country," Emil said.

This is done, because often business people are confused about the procedures for exporting products. So that Emil believes that this pattern will reduce the 'complicated' export process abroad, such as thinking about export procedures, from where to go through the export bank, which procedure through the Port, to the connection about being cheated or not because of lack of information and relations.

"This often happens, now this pattern I changed. The buyer I brought to Indonesia, he told me to fix the export and business in his country. So the people of West Java can sell to those who have been cured by us as much as possible," he said.
