Reviewing Baleendah Floods, Ridwan Kamil Brings Six Water Pumps

BANDUNG REGENCY- West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil reviewed Cieunteung's floods and retention ponds in Andir Village, Baleendah District, Bandung Regency, Tuesday (2/26/19). To reduce the puddle, especially in Andir Village, the Governor also brought six pumps to the location so that the puddles could flow into the Cieunteung retention pond.

This is a short-term solution made by the West Java Provincial Government. Emil said, if the pump has not been able to reduce the puddle, then it will look for other solutions.

"Earlier I interviewed the residents, it turns out that the river's position is now down, but this (floodwater puddle) cannot disappear because the elevation cannot be solved by gravity," said the Governor who was familiarly called Kang Emil.

"So today I have a Kompa with six - later arranged by the Head of Subdistrict (Baleendah), supervised by residents. Let's see how many days are reduced. If there is a pump after there is a problem, I will think again, "he continued.

Furthermore, the Governor also said that his party continued to think of a big solution to deal with routine flood problems in Baleendah and its surroundings. He also admitted that even though the Cieunteung retention pool had been completed, it had not resolved the flooding problem in other locations. For this reason, Emil revealed that there were still around four retention ponds that had to be built.

"I think the problem of routine flooding is that we are slowly making a big solution. Lake Cieunteung has finished, some are useful but not yet to others. We have about four more locations that we are building this year, namely the retention lake to park water, "he said.

Another solution is the Curug Jompong tunnel which is expected to be completed later this year. The governor also understands if there are still residents who are disappointed because of the problem of flooding that continues every year.

"The tunnel at the end of Jompong waterfall is finished at the end of the year, so that the water was stuck because of the turn and a lot of barrier, it can pass through the tunnel directly downstream. Hopefully the end of the year will be finished, "said the Governor.

"But the point is that I am the leader, the leader who intervenes, I come, I see. There are people who are disappointed that I think it's normal, because I understand dozens, decades (floods). But believe me we have come to find solutions and help, "he said.
