BANDUNG-Earth Hour activity in West Java Province which was held at Gedung Sate (19/3/16) was attended by Vice Governor Deddy Mizwar. He revealed that Earth Hour in West Java has contributed efficiency to save 60-megawatt power plant in 2012, in 2013 by 70-megawatt, then in 2014 and 2015 by 80-megawatt power plant.
Vice Governor hoped the implementation of Earth Hour in 2016 will be more widely throughout society in West Java. To that end, he invited the public and the business sector in West Java to participate and do the three things as an expression of participation in the Earth Hour campaign.
"I told all the people in West Java to turn off the lights and all electronic equipment that is not used for at least one hour in every day. Secondly, replace the bulbs with energy-saving lamps. Then, the third, disseminate information about energy saving through social media owned,” urged Vice Governor in his speech.
"We also expect to businesses such as developer to urge the residents in its region to participate in Earth Hour activity. Perhaps in an industrial area that is so much electrical energy is also doing the same activities. I guess this will be greater efficiency than last years,” said Vice Governor.
In West Java, the implementation of Earth Hour 2016 is centred at Gedung Sate Bandung and followed simultaneously by 13 regencies/cities, Bandung, Cimahi, Depok, Bogor City, Bekasi, Karawang District, Kuningan, Cirebon , Cianjur, Sukabumi City, Purwakarta district, Tasikmalaya regency, and Subang district.
It is hoped Earth Hour is not just turning off lights and electrical appliances, but it is a symbol to be a simple act committed by a person, which has huge implications for the improvement of the environment when it’s done together simultaneously.
It was also presented by Chairman and Members of Parliament of West Java, West Java Head BPLHD, Elements FKPD West Java, WWF and the community and environmentalists in West Java.
