BANDUNG - The School of Business and Management of the Bandung Institute of Technology (SBM-ITB) won the second award from Global Brand Magazine (GBM) from the United Kingdom as The Best Business School in Indonesia in 2018. Prof. Dr. Utomo Sarjono Putro as Vice Dean of Academic Affairs SBM received this award directly on January 25, 2019 then in Macau, China.
According to Prof. Utomo, this award correlates with the QS ranking for subjects in Busines and Management studies in 2018, which places ITB in the top 201-250, where this ranking is the best in Indonesia. In addition, for the 2019 World University Rankings Times Higher Education (THE) ranking for subjects of Business and economics, placing ITB as the only university in Indonesia in the top 500 world ranking.
This prestigious award is also inseparable from the curriculum or education system applied by SBM for its students. The curriculum of the S1 study management program, there are courses that require students to do business not only theoretically, but also practically, namely Integrative Business Experience (IBE) courses, where students will be required to practice business for two semesters to gain business experience. IBE is the backbone of the curriculum, so students have a real case in business, where it is important for students to understand the practices of accepted management and business theories. "Because the business if only the theory is without practice, it will be less affected," said Prof. Utomo.
The Global Brand Magazine Magazine in addition to awarding the best business school in Indonesia, also gives awards in other countries, for example for the United States of America, the winner is the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and London Business School for the UK.
The next step taken by SBM ITB to maintain, even enhance this achievement is through international accreditation. "We strongly encourage SBM to get international accreditation. All our study programs have received accreditation from ABEST21, the center in Japan. We are also in the process of getting accreditation from AACSB whose center is in America," said Prof. Utomo when delivering about the next steps taken by SBM ITB.
In addition to international accreditation, SBM ITB also has three values that it applies in order to maintain quality. These three values are innovation both in academics and professional activities, then engagement in the form of involvement of SBM ITB academicians with academic, as well as professional activities, and impact or trying to continue to have a positive impact on society, industry and government both nationally and internationally.
