CIANJUR - State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) have again provided free electricity connections to 14,000 poor households in Cianjur Regency, West Java.
SOEs Minister Rini Soemarno symbolically provided free electricity connection assistance to 7 family heads in Sukatani Sub-District, Haurwangi District, Cianjur Regency.
"For Haurwangi Subdistrict, 548 households obtained this free electricity connection," Rini said.
The SOEs involved in this assistance are PLN, PGN, IPC, Perhutani, Fertilizer Indonesia, ASDP, Askrindo, PTPN III, Dahana, and PT PP.
Minister Rini said the free electricity connection program was carried out so that people who could not afford to enjoy electricity boosted the economy in West Java.
This SOEs free electricity connection program has been felt by residents who have received assistance. They have experienced official electricity from PLN since last December 2018.
Umah (54), a resident of Sukatani Urban Village, the recipient of free electricity assistance, said that her house has been channeling electricity from its neighbors for decades. He pays 30-40 thousand rupiah per month to his neighbor for the use of electricity for 3 lights and 1 small television.
"Now I only run out of 20 thousand per month to buy electricity tokens. After getting a free electricity connection, I can use an electric rice cooker," said Umah.
Previously, free electricity connection had also been carried out in several areas such as Bogor City, Bogor Regency, Bandung Regency, Garut Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency. Then Pangandaran Regency, Cianjur Regency and Sukabumi Regency. In total there are 100,970 inadequate households in West Java receiving free electricity connections from SOEs. (Even)
