Chamber of Commerce & Industry Considered West Java's potential to be National

CIREBON-Chairperson of the Central Chamber of Commerce Rosan P Roeslani said that West Java's economic growth has become an important driver of national growth. In 2018 economic growth is above the national level, or reaching 5.6 percent.

"So to maintain good economic growth nationally, West Java's economic growth must be good, West Java's contribution is quite large," he said while attending the West Java Muprov VII Kadin in Cirebon, Thursday (7/2).

Another thing is that the industry in West Java is the largest nationally with a growth center in Bekasi, Karawang and Purwakarta. In the future, the eastern region such as Majalengka, Cirebon and Subang will also develop.

Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita said West Java's foreign trade was always a surplus and helped support 17 percent of national exports in 2018, worth Rp30.4 billion.

But he reminded that the West Java industry remains prospective, so there needs to be new land clearing such as in the eastern region.

"There have been complaints, even 20 industries have moved from West Java to Central Java because of high wages. There must be an immediate relocation effort to the east of West Java, the wages are still competitive and not burdensome to employers," he added. Jo
