BEKASI-President Joko Widodo appreciated the free electricity installation connection program for poor and vulnerable households in West Java. According to him, this electricity connection will make the community more productive.
This was revealed by the President after directly reviewing the free electricity installation connection program in Biyombong Village, RT 003 RW 006, Pantai Bakti Village, Muara Gembong District, Bekasi Regency, on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.
"This is if all the electricity connections have been given like this. I think the community is more productive. Our children at night can also study calmly," he told journalists after the review.
On this occasion the President symbolically turned on the miniature circuit breaker (MCB) in five houses. Based on the review in the field, the President views this program as being on target.
"Our target is 4,000, but we have only got 300 (houses). This is just the beginning. And if I look at it, it is right on target. The house is very visible, right on target," he continued.
Since starting last year, this program has targeted families who cannot afford to pay for the installation of electricity. This obstacle, according to the President, made people not have their own electricity meter.
"Because we see many people who need it, they can pay the monthly fee but for a connection that is more than Rp. 1 million, it can't. It's not strong to pay so they don't have a direct meter," he said.
Until the end of December 2018 yesterday, the government through the program had realized free electricity connections for 100,970 households in a number of regencies and cities in West Java. For Bekasi Regency alone there are 300 families, while for Bekasi City there are 9 households.
"This will move. But this is indeed indeed we have only concentrated these months in West Java, then shifting to the east again to Central Java, to East Java," said the President.
During the review, the President was accompanied by SOE Minister Rini Soemarno, Minister of State Pratikno, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, and Acting Regent of Bekasi Eka Supria Atmaja. (Even)
