BANDUNG - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to oversee the development of money loan applications through online or applications that can be downloaded at the Apps Store. Supervision is done so that consumers are not harmed and disrupt the privacy of customers.
Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners Wimboh Santoso said there were hundreds of applications to borrow money through online that were closed or blocked, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Information.
"There are already hundreds blocked, because they are not licensed and burdensome to consumers," he said at Gedung Sate, Monday (1/21).
He asserted that it is actually quite easy to find out about the application of money loans online, namely by checking their presence on the OJK website. If it is not registered, it is better not to borrow.
OJK, according to him, encourages innovation in the financial services industry in the face of the 4.0 industrial revolution. For this reason, we will prepare an adequate ecosystem and encourage financial institutions to digitize their financial products and services with reliable risk management.
"We will continue to facilitate the development of Fintech start-ups and monitors, including the start-up of FinTech Peer-to-Peer Lending and Equity Crowdfunding through a conducive regulatory framework to encourage innovation and at the same time provide adequate protection for consumers," he said.
In addition, together with relevant institutions and agencies, we will increase community literacy towards fintech and strengthen law enforcement for illegal fintech start-ups that can harm the wider community.
"Improving the protection of financial consumers, especially retail credit consumers and consumer and Fintech, which have been complaining lately. For that we will strengthen the application of market conduct in the financial services industry and also optimize the role of the alert alert task force for investment, "he said.
Likewise, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said more and more products loan money applications through online systems but increasingly not good because it is similar to loan sharks. "Loans with high interest rates, and if they are in arrears, the borrowers are attacked personally, for example, they are called and the photos are spread on the internet. This is not good, "he said. jo
