BANDUNG - Starting in 2019, Kertajati International Airport opens two new routes by the airline Lion Air. Kertajati (KJT) - Halim Perdanakusuma (HLP) and Kertajati - Yogyakarta (JOG) will begin flights on January 11.
In addition, this low-cost airline also serves flights which are the favorite routes, namely Kertajati - Balikpapan (BPN). This route was also previously served by a five-star airline, Garuda Indonesia.
New routes mark the opening of domestic flights by the airline Lion Air. Previously the airline had been serving international flights on the Kertajati - Madinah route for Umrah flights since October 2018.
"Starting this 2019, thank God, new routes from and to Kertajati Airport will increase. This flight is a favorite route," said Director of PT BIJB Muhamad Singgih in Bandung, Friday, January 4, 2018.
Singgih said, the increase in flights from Kertajati Airport indicated that the connectivity needs of the people of West Java, especially the Cirebon - Indramayu - Majalengka and Kuningan (Ciayumajakuning) areas were quite large. Moreover, the count of the cathcment area or coverage area in Ciayumajakuning plus Subang and Sumedang and Tegal and Brebes reached 17 million.
"Looking at the large passenger market, of course we are an airport that has not even been in operation for one year and airlines must be able to continue to socialize existing flights," Singgih explained.
According to Singgih, the entry of Lion Air to Kertajati Airport will add to the select list of flyers. One by one the entry of the airline will facilitate connectivity and make Kertajati a hub in West Java to fly across the country.
"This will increase people's choice to determine their flights to and from Kertajati. Now, how do we do the airports and airlines have to fulfill passengers," said Singgih.
The frequency of Lion Air flights starting January 11 is open every day for the Balikpapan route. First the aircraft landing at Kertajati at 12.00 WIB then made a reverse flight 13.40 WIB.
For the Yogyakarta route, the frequency of flights is conducted three times a week, namely Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Flights from Kertajati were carried out at 13:50 WIB while from Yogyakarta at 12.20 WIB. As for the Jakarta route, the aircraft took off from Halim Perdanakusuma at 10:35 a.m. and instead the aircraft from Kertajati at 11.55 WIB. The frequency of flights to Jakarta is Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Before Lion Air, the Citilink airline had served Kertajati flights to Surabaya and Medan round trip. There is also a Garuda Indonesia airline for Kertajati flights to Lampung - Palembang - Balikpapan - Tarakan and vice versa. The domestic airline TransNusa also pioneered flights in the western region of Indonesia by opening the Semarang and Lampung routes.
