BANDUNG - Many attendees shed tears when Popong Otje Junjunan (80) sang kawih or a Sundanese song entitled 'Jungjunan Kari Tulang'.
The song, which tells the story of a widow kneeling in the grave of her long-dead husband, is called Ceu Popong without musical accompaniment. That happened during the launching of the Ceu Popon autobiographical book on the 80th anniversary of the Pasundan Circle of Friends office on Sunday (12/30/2018).
"The late Kang Otje once wanted to sing the song when we used to practice kawih at home in Cipaganti, then the next day Kang Otje passed away," Ceu said, Popong said.
After that, the members of the House of Representatives Commission X then told a lot about the journey of his life from single to now 80 years old.
"Well, actually this book is about that. About the old saying we used to say that jodo, bagja, cilaka starch is another human bandana," said Ceu Popong in Sundanese.
That about mate, happiness, sadness and death is only Allah who has power, so according to Ceu Popong that belief should never be denied in life as a life lesson.
Many who attended the event included West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Bandung Mayor Oden M Danial and Sundanese leaders and elders.
"Ceu Popong has become the mother of urang sararea, our mother. We have the right attitude, our work is exemplary," said Ridwan Kamil. (Even)
