BANDUNG - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) has named PT Polytama Propindo (polytama) as a green-ranked company. The largest upstream producer of polypropylene resin (plastic ore) in Indonesia, located in Balongan Subdistrict, Indramayu Regency, is considered successful in implementing the environmental management company performance rating program (Green Proper).
Together with another company that won GREEN PROPER, the award was handed over by LHK Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar to Uray Azhari, Director of PT Polytama Propindo recently. Also watching the coronation, PT Polytama's General Manager Corporate Secretary, Dwinanto Kurniawan.
"This is a year-end gift to be grateful for. In addition to evidence of success in environmental care, it is also a guideline that in the future, Polytama will further strengthen the commitment to safeguard the environment while empowering the surrounding community, "said Dwinanto.
GREEN PROPER shows the seriousness of Polytama to implement social responsibility through environmental management programs. These efforts will be maintained in the coming years by taking into account various government regulations, both related to environmental preservation and social responsibility, so that they can contribute to improving the welfare of the surrounding community.
"Proper Hijau fulfilled Polytama's contribution through the Zero Waste Management (Masaro) pilot project when the Regent of Indramayu won an award as the Climate Village Program (ProKlim) coach in the LHK Ministry in October," said Dwinanto.
As is known, last October 2018, Regent of Indramayu, Hj Anna Sophana won the ProKlim award, one of which was thanks to the success of Polytama in implementing the Masaro program in Tinumpuk Village, Juntinyuat District, Indramayu. Utilizing funds from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), along with former migrant workers in Tinumpuk, the company founded in 1993 managed waste into various useful products such as alternative fuels, fertilizers to hotmix (asphalt made of plastic waste).
Previously, Polytama won various awards from the government. Among them, Zero Accident, Corporate Taxpayers with the largest contribution of Article 21 Income Tax from tax revenues from Indramayu Tax Office and many more. The company also won ISO 9001, ISO14001, ISO 22000, ISO 18001, Halal certificate, SNI and 83% TKDN (Domestic Content Level) certificates.
Dwinanto explained, companies that have the Masplene brand are consistent in following all standards required by PROPER according to LHK Ministerial Regulation Number 3 of 2014 and Law No. 40 of 2007 regarding Community Development programs. The form of company consistency is seen through the development of community-based programs that aim to improve the welfare of the community and the environment.
Polytama also implements a water conservation program to meet the water needs of the company's production. This company aims to reuse production coolant water for further production needs through closed system water production. Polytama is the only polypropylene unit in Indonesia that applies reused water as a cooling tower feed to increase the efficiency of raw water usage.
"For the conservation of biodiversity, Polytama provides green land by planting various types of trees, including rare plants around factories and offices. This green space is a deposit of oxygen for employee health and the environment, "said Dwinanto.jo
