BANTEN Maritime Affairs Coordinating Minister Luhut B. Pandjaitan stated that the government is currently processing rules aimed at preventing and handling disasters between the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) and other related institutions are more integrated.
"Reflecting on the experience of previous events, we are now processing the rules. Admittedly there was indeed a vacuum, and there were still problems for years. Now is the time for us to change, we will release it in January after the Limited Meeting with the President, "said Coordinating Minister Luhut who was accompanied by the Head of Basarnas M. Syauqi and Pandeglang Regent Irma Narulita while reviewing post tsunami disaster handling in Pandeglang District, Banten, Sunday (12/30/2018).
Coordinating Minister Luhut explained, later in the regulation, there would be an early warning system scheme that would be made more integrated. So that the initial anticipation will be better than now.
"For example, from the BMKG in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, digital data from an analogue origin has been made. What does it mean? The data has begun to be integrated. We are targeting after this regulation comes out, integration will be even better, "he added.
So far the government plans to immediately install the early warning system_ on 3 islands adjacent to Mount Anak Krakatau, namely, the island of Krakatau, the island of Sertung and the island of Panjang. In addition, it will also be installed in the Semeleu Island area, Mentawai, off the coast of Padang, Bengkulu and other areas deemed vulnerable. (Even)
